We filed a FOIA request on December 28, 2015, with the Chicago Police Department for an electronic copy of ex-superintendent of police Gerry McCarthy's calendar from October 2014 through the end of December 2015.
The Chicago cops replied on January 5, 2015, that they needed five days to process my FOIA request.
Here's the reply from the Chicago police:
When we didn't hear from the department seven days after the promised response, we again wrote to the FOIA unit of the Chicago police department asking if we could expect the superintendent's calendar this week. Here's the reply dated January 20, 2015:
The Chicago cops are again invoking a five day extension to themselves and this equals a delay. Let's see what the next communication from them says and if we get the desired calendar in five business days.

We exchange telephone and email communication this week with the FOIA office of the Chicago Police Department.
They've located the former superintendent's calendar data we've requested and apparently the file is unpopulated, meaning empty, according to this note. Despite a verbal promise and written offer to share the file with us, it wasn't released.
The Chicago cops say they have another calendar file for Gerry McCarthy, but it's not redacted so it won't be shared with us. If we're not mistaken, there have been three invocations of needing five more days to comply with open govt laws and we still don't have the responsive records. Let's see if the calendars are sent to us this week.
